What a Waste

But I Heard. . .

Have you heard

“Studies show that the environmental impact of cloth diapers and disposable diapers is equal.”

Don’t believe it!

Environmental impact of diapers

This claim is based on a flawed study from the UK published in 2005 with an addendum in 2008. This study “lightweights” disposable diapers with estimated future scenarios while not even considering data for lowest impact reusable cloth diapers on the market. In order to get a small overlap, the study was heavily weighted toward industrial production data, data that just isn’t available and wasn’t developed for reusable diapers.

Is that a valid comparison? No, of course not.
